Independents are defined as "independently owned and operated consumer finance companies."The AFSA Independents Section was formed in 1983 to bring independent operators together to exchange information with their peers. This forum has strengthened the bond between the Association and independents, enabling the Association to better serve the independents while solidifying the Association's connection between national events and local realities. The Section Advisory Board is the oversight leadership group to develop programs and services specifically designed to meet the needs of association independents.
